23. January 2004
On January 23rd, 2004, BWSC signed a contract with the Portuguese electricity company Electricidade dos Açores, S.A. (EDA) for delivery of a new complete 24 MW turnkey power station extension. The station is to be equipped with 2 x 12V48/60B MAN B&W engines (each with an output of 12 MW) and is the second extension of the Belo Jardim Power Station on the island of Terceira. The first extension was delivered in three steps by BWSC from 1997 to 2003.
The big challenge of this new order for BWSC is the delivery time. By September 2004 the first unit must be in production – i.e. less than 8 months from date of contract! BWSC is looking forward to meeting this challenge so as to prove our unique flexibility and at the same time strengthening our relationship with EDA.
