4-stroke medium speed diesel engines are mainly used for power generation into smaller electrical grids such as on islands, in remote areas, in fast track development projects, or for industrial purposes such as auto-producer. Medium speed engines are competitive for intermediate or base load power plants up to the 200 MW range.
The medium speed 4-stroke diesel engines are of compact design and at the same time ensuring dependable base load operation on heavy fuel oil (HFO).
Although already of a very high standard, the engine design is under continuous development in consideration of the ever-growing requirements from the power plant industry.
