Gas Engine Power Plant

In areas where natural gas is available, gas engines can be a very attractive solution to electric power generation. Gas engines may be competitive when used for plant sizes up to the 50 MW range.

A number of excellent gas engines are available from reputable manufacturers with solid experience in gas engine technology. Throughout the last decade the engines have been developed to obtain an electrical efficiency of around 45% or more. The engine design originates from the very well proven technology already available from engines using fuel oil.

Gas engine power plants can be used for base load as well as for peak load operation - either in isolated electrical grids, where distributed power is required, or in large complete grids.
