On July 24th, 2004, the Libyan oil company Compagnie des Petroles Total Libye (CPTL) signed a contract with MAN B&W Augsburg in cooperation with BWSC for delivery of an 18 MW power plant to be built in the oil field of Great Mabruk situated 400 km south-west of Tripoli. The station is to be equipped with 2 x 18V32/40 MAN B&W engines.
This BWSC’s first order in Libya is of great importance with respect to gaining a foothold on this newly accessible market - holding approximately 4% of the world’s total proven crude oil reserves - and turning it into a key market for BWSC’s state-of-the-art technology.
