Rabai Power receives official ISO certification

Rabai Power, the BWSC organisation that operates our 90 MW power plant located near the Kenyan capital, has just received its official documents for ISO certification.

With the certification, Rabai Power becomes BWSC’s first address in Africa to be ISO certified. The power plant has been in operation since 2009.

DNV GL, an internationally accredited registrar and classification society based in Norway, audited the 90 MW power plant in Summer 2019.

After addressing details in the audit, Rabai Power was presented with three official certificates which document excellence in the scope of operation and maintenance, namely ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

Thomas Hedebroe, BWSC’s plant manager, welcomed the certification.

“We’re proud to operate a plant which meets recognised international standards. The certification demonstrates our management system is effective. We’ll continue to look for further improvements to minimise environmental impact and enhance operation.”

Hedebroe adds: “Our safety record is already high – more than three years without lost time injury – and we aim to keep it that way.”
