The 10th Copenhagen Sakura (Cherry Blossom) Festival will take place at Langelinie Park on 29-30 April 2017 from 10:30 am to 16:00 pm, and once again, BWSC is one of the proud sponsors of the festival.
The original idea for the festival came from the donation of 200 Japanese cherry trees to the Copenhagen municipality by the Danish Honorary Consul in Hiroshima, Mr. Seiichi Takaki, on the occasion of H. C. Andersen's 200-year birthday in 2005. The trees were planted in Langelinie Park, and the first cherry blossom season of the trees was celebrated with a little ceremony. In Japan, "hanami", which means flower-viewing or admiration of flowers, is celebrated every year.
The two-day programme comprises i.a. drum shows, sword fighting, martial arts, fashion show and tea ceremony. The activities offer a wide range of entertainment and insight into Japanese culture. There is no entrance fee to the Festival.
