In April 2005, Electricidade dos Açores S.A. (EDA) - the local electricity company on the Azores - and BWSC signed a contract for delivery of an extension to the Pico Power Station on the island of Pico. The contract comprises an engine hall prepared for 3 units, installation of one unit, auxiliaries, tank farm, a sludge system for the entire station, and a control system, which also covers the already existing 5 units.

BWSC obtained its first contract on the Azores in 1995 for delivery of the Belo Jardim Power Station on the island of Terceira, which successively entailed 3 contracts for extension of the station in 2000, 2003, and 2004.

Since then BWSC has endeavored to obtain contracts on some of the other islands in the area and has now succeeded on Pico, which is the second largest of the total 9 islands of the Azores.

Expected delivery of the new extension to Pico Power Station will be around May, 2006.
