Clever solutions to maximise fuel efficiency

Combined heat and power and other cogeneration technologies are an important tool for maximising our limited energy resources.

Utilising excess heat

Using thermal energy resources – whether they’re fossil fuels or renewable biomass – releases heat. Cogeneration is the term we use for applications where the excess heat associated with power production is applied for useful purposes, which would otherwise require primary thermal energy that is produced elsewhere. Given today’s high fuel costs and growing environmental awareness, cogeneration is increasingly considered a viable option for increasing a power plant’s overall efficiency.
